So here is the skinny:
We hope to have a release show late summer...if we can book the venue we will be posting on here the date IMMEDIATELY. We will host presale tickets with a tier of goodies for you to choose from. So prepare yourselves. This will be HUGE.
The mixing is on track and some new material is being finished. If you missed that last few shows, you missed some awesome treats. We have 2 new songs finished and a third on the way as we speak. Including...the TITLE TRACK FOR ARROW!

RisingSide OUT.
April update!
Dear All-
April has been a productive month for RisingSide! As you all know, we have been taking a couple weeks off of playing out- this is mostly so we can focus on working on the album, promotion, writing, and future planning.
The album is really coming along! We are finished tracking, and Ryan has begun the mixing process. We are all really enjoying hanging out listening to the beginnings of what sounds like a final product . . . it’s really starting to sound like music! We can’t wait to have it playing in people’s car stereos, at work, in your ipods, and on the radio!!! On a personal note, I close my eyes and listen to how the sound of my drums interact with Tony’s lead guitars and Katie’s vocal performances and folks, . . . I get goosebumps . . . .
Writing has also been very exciting! We currently have 3 songs that are going through final edits and revisions. The process of rehearsing together, stopping and starting, trying our everyone’s ideas, improvising, being creative, and talking through different approaches, is really refreshing and invigorating. There is some serious chemistry, artistry, and work ethic going on here and I think it may be possible these new songs are the strongest material to EVER come out of RisingSide. Another personal note: with these new songs, I really feel like I can “be myself” on the drums . . . and really take advantage of all of my playing abilities to express myself. I have jam packed these tunes with wild and awesome drum parts and I don’t have to use a “filter”!
The usual goes- we want to encourage you to explore our website, read about us, listen to us, and make it out to see our shows. This truly feels like an exciting time for us!
We are all ITCHING to get back on stage and let this energy out! Take a look at our May show dates . . . I can promise if you come out, your in for a great show. We are all still on 10, and we won’t let you down.

late February update!
Dear All-
Scotty Here! I am sitting in Starbucks about to head to Mankato to rehearse with the orchestra and decided to give you the latest happenings, thoughts and feelings new with RisingSide.
Saturday was a truly special day, one that will stick in our memories for a long time! My solo presentation at the MacPhail Center for music was very successful- I performed two songs from the new album, played a solo. Another good step in helping the music education community understand the fruits of progressive rock music, and also become exposed to RisingSide! It seemed clear that the many high school music students present felt inspiration from the energy of the music, my playing, and also my spoken insights that progressive rock is OK to study in school. A big thanks to Ryan for helping me with sound. It was really cool to hang out with the kids after my performance . . . young music students get SO excited from rock music!!!! I hope you will take a look at the link below for the video of the presentation.
Shortly after, we headed right over to Station 4. We had a great load in and soundcheck. Everybody at the show, bands included, were so nice and helped create a REALLY fun night of rocking out, conversations, and eating out in St. Paul. The chemistry and energy of RisingSide was on 10 during our show, and I believe it to be our best show yet! Things are just building and building and every show we grow more excited for the next.
Vocal tracking is also going well, and we are all enjoying hanging out at Ryan's hearing Katie sing in our headphones. Sing it, girl! You tell 'em! Bring that sass!
Also- Katie and I were able to see "The Combo" last night at Bunkers with Petar Janjic on drums. What an inspiration for us to keep rehearsing and practicing!!!!
Keep an eye on that gigs page!! It is starting to FILL UP!

Scotty to give solo show of RisingSide songs!
Dear Everybody,
I've been invited to present as a featured artist at the MacPhail Center for Music Percussion Showcase at the end of the month! Good news for me, but also good news for RISINGSIDE! I have chosen to take this opportunity to present the work I have done with the drum parts on the new album, and also to help the percussion and drum community around town hear RisingSide! I will speak a little about the drum approaches to the songs technically and compositionally, play two songs along to a backing track, and close with a solo. The MacPhail Center for Music Percussion Showcase is a percussion educational event, but RisingSide fans are also welcome to come rock out! I need people to cheer me on!! :-) Demo CD's and RisingSide merchandise will be available. We hope you will come down to the MacPhail school to help build the enthusiasm for the anticipated new album and support your drummer!!!!!
You can read details on the "gigs" page!

Great show yesterday!
Hey All-
We had a GREAT time at North Hennepin Community College yesterday! First of all, thank you to everybody who was a part in making the event a success: namely our manager Andrea JO, Kevin at NHCC, NHCC students, and everyone who came to support us during the show. Also, Ryan (RisingSide bass man) deserves a big thanks from his bandmates for really putting in the extra effort to save a good set up and sound. The music was flowing and we had so much fun. We were happy to help students feel an extra charge in the middle of their day.
Back to writing, album recording! We're really at it, but honestly folks . . . we are just gettin' WARMED UP!!!
Coming soon- some videos of my latest practice sessions. I have been very fortunate to be working with Gordy Knudtson, the drummer for the Steve Miller Band, on taking my rock drumming to the next level. I am excited to show you all how I am finding a little more musical power to take to RisingSide.
Over and out, Scotty
This week's show, photoshoot, and album progress!
Hey All!
RisingSide is in full throttle and things are going great! First and foremost . . . we have a show on Wednesday! Our enthusiasm and musical energy are still "on the rise", and this show promises to be the best RisingSide show yet. Check out the gigs page (above) for details.
We had a GREAT photo shoot the other day! Everything from serious, grungey, proggy, metal, classy, goofy, and sexy was captured in several hundred photos! Most of all, we had a blast together. Thanks to photographer Amy Forness, manager Andrea JO, and make up artist/hair stylist Natalie Jefferson, and Crystal Worthman for the help and great company. Take a look at the "photos" page (above) to check it out for yourself.
Our facebook "likes" are on the incline! Give us a listen and "like" us on facebook if you feel inspired!
The album recording process is also going very well. Indeed it is hard work, but the persistence, professionalism, talents, passion, heart, and most importantly teamwork of every member of RisingSide is shining onwards. Bravo to my band mates and all of our support . . . this album is really going to be something special, and very representative of our musical voice and chemistry as a band. We are pumped to show you all when it is done. Rhythm guitar is completed and sounding SOLID! Go Katie!!!! Next up is Tony on lead guitars . . . the magic of how Katie's guitar parts and Tony's guitar parts work together, flow, interact, and compiment one another will begin to come to fruition. I'm so excited to just hang out and listen!
That's all for now . . . gotta head to Mankato to play snare drum with the orchestra . . . RisingSide over and out!
- Scotty (RisingSide drummer)

January
Greetings All!
Just a little update from the RisingSide crew . . .
We had a GREAT time at the Driftwood Char Bar in south Minneapolis Saturday night. Thanks to all who came out to support the band and experience the music. We will be returning to the Driftwood sometime in March. Stay tuned!
Recording the album is going well- we are enjoying the time together listening, playing, and shaping it into something that we are going to be very proud of. We are hoping to finish Katie's rhythm guitar parts this weekend so we can get started with T-Port's leads.
. . . most of our time now in rehearsal is spent writing music together from scratch! This is very exciting, and sometimes unpredictable!! Several new RisingSide songs are almost done . . . get ready!
We hope to see you come out for our next show on Jan. 16th (next week) at noon. Please stay tuned for the complete details coming soon.
Over and out!
- Scotty
